Soil Testing Expressions of Interest Now Open

Expressions of interest for farmers to participate in the next round of the soil testing program are now open. Click the ‘apply now’ button to register. What's in it for me?

The soil testing program provides incentives for soil testing and agronomic advice. By participating in this program, you will develop the knowledge and confidence to tailor your fertiliser practices to match your desired level of productivity and soil test results.

You’ll receive:

  • Soil sampling and chemical analysis of all eligible paddocks on your farm
  • Colour coded maps showing nutrient status and soil acidity for all eligible paddocks
  • Your results at a farmer workshop, assistance interpreting the results, and advice regarding soil and plant nutrition
  • Opportunity to work one to one with a Fertcare® accredited agronomist of your choice from our panel, after the workshop, to receive personalised fertiliser recommendations.
  • An opportunity to join over 800 farmers working to improve water quality in our local waterways and estuaries.
  • Soil testing and additional advice and support valued at over $3500

Can I apply?

The program is open to beef, dairy and sheep grazing enterprises with at least 40 cleared and arable hectares that are located in one of the following catchments:

  • Peel-Harvey
  • Leschenault
  • Geographe
  • Hardy Inlet
  • Wilson Inlet
  • Oyster Harbour (located within the 600mm rainfall zone only)

How much will it cost?

The program includes financial incentives and enrolled farmers will receive soil testing valued at over $3500.

New to soil testing?

If you have not previously been involved in a whole farm soil testing program, this program includes a farmer co-contribution of just $300 to participate (regardless of farm size).

Previously involved in soil testing?

If you have been involved in a similar whole farm soil testing program from June 2009, you are still eligible to register your interest. Previous participants will need to co-contribute $25 per paddock, with a minimum cost of $300 to participate.

Dairy Effluent Management

Funding assistance is available to support farmers reduce nutrient loss from dairy sheds through upgrading effluent systems.  GeoCatch is funding priority dairies in the Geographe Catchment to develop a dairy effluent management plan and provide funding incentives to implement the plan. To register your Expression of Interest to be involved in a DairyCare project , please email GeoCatch at geocatch@dwer.wa.gov.au or phone 97810111

Rivercare

Funding assistance is available to assist Geographe landowners undertake stock exclusion fencing and revegetation projects to improve the health of Geographe waterways.
